About Safari Drive

The unique and versatile answer to an independent African safari

Safari Drive organises private, tailor-made, self drive safaris throughout Africa.

This unique style of safari allows for a level of adventure that is simply not catered for by traditional companies. We give you the chance to go off and explore the wilds of Africa while maintaining a high level of security and back-up on the ground.

There are few experiences to match the thrill of waking up in your own private camp, with not a soul for miles around you, in some of the most sensational locations in the world.

It could be the heart of Omans Empty Quarter, East Africas magnificent Great Rift Valley, a secluded lagoon in Botswanas Okavango Delta or a dramatic kopje in Namibias Damaraland wherever you choose to go, we will provide you with the means to experience the very best that this staggeringly beautiful continent has to offer.

How it all began

Increasingly frustrated by the constraints that modern tourism imposes, Safari Drive pioneered self drive safaris in 1993 and started organising self drive trips from Victoria Falls.

The demand for this fresh approach to African travel meant that we were soon expanding the portfolio of countries in which we operate.

We now organise Safari Drive journeys in Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and, most recently, Oman.

Forget all the safari cliches!

With Safari Drive, you leave the world of off the peg safaris far behind you.

Your experience will be a far cry from zebra-striped mini buses and hoards of tourists clustered around a single bewildered lion.

Instead, you take to the road in your own private, fully equipped vehicle.

Your bookings will be secured, your route planned and you will be armed with a fantastic itinerary that we will create with you before your departure.
