This itinerary is designed for those who have the time to really see the ins and outs of Namibia. On this trip will spend 4 weeks driving through the Naukluft Desert, Fish River Canyon, Klein Aus Vista, Namib Rand, Soussusvlei, Swakopmund, The Damaraland, The Kaokoland and Etosha National Park – to name a few!

Route

Itinerary

Location 1

Olive Grove, Windhoek

Day 1

Arrive in Windhoek, transferred to Olive Grove Guesthouse for your first nights stay. Later in the afternoon you will be taken to our base and introduced to your vehicle, plus briefed on the vehicle, its equipment, the driving conditions, route and safety issues.

Location 2

Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch

Day 2

Today you will head to Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch where you will stay in a chalet on their private 7,000 hectare reserve that is home to springbok, gemsbok, giraffe and eland.

Location 3

Canyon Road House Campsite, Fish River Canyon

Day 3

Take the long drive to the Fish River Canyon. Just north of the road to the Canyon is a small lodge called Canyon Roadhouse. The Roadhouse has fuel, a small shop, restaurant and bar, nearby is a small well appointed campsite with shaded camping areas and good showers and loos.

Location 4

Eagles Nest, Klein Aus Vista

Day 4 & 5

Today you have two a choice of routes, the longer but truly beautiful route is south to the Orange River. You will then arrive a lovely property in Klein Aus Vista (one of our favourite regions) called the Eagles Nest. From here you can visit the wild horses, do some trekking on the farm and visit Luderitz.

NamibRand Family Hideout Campsite

Day 6 & 7

This morning you drive to NamibRand Hideout, which is a single private site on a farm in the heart of the NamibRand Nature Reserve. Surrounded by exceptional desert and natural beauty this is a fantastically private and peaceful campsite.

Dead Valley Lodge, Sossusvlei

Day 8 & 9

Today you continue south to Sesriem and the magnificent dunes of Sossusvlei.

Desert Breeze, Swakopmund

Day 10 & 11

This morning you will be driving to the coastal town of Swakopmund. With palm-lined streets, seaside promenades and fine accommodation. This is also Namibia's activity centre, here you can do a range of activities from quad biking on sand dunes to scenic flights up the skeleton coast.

Spitzkoppe Campsite, Spitzkoppe

Day 9 & 10

Today you will drive to Spitzkoppe, which we think is one of the most beautiful areas in Namibia, consisting of an imposing granite rock formation set in the plains. Here you can walk in the area and climb up to Bushman’s Paradise, a small basin tucked between the domes of rock, where you can view the rock paintings done by Bushman of the past and gaze at the amazing view.

Mowani Campsite, Damaraland

Day 13

Head north into the heart of Damaraland where you will stay at the beautiful campsite that belongs to Mowani.

Location 10

Camp Aussicht, Kaokoland

Day 14

Today you start to make your way into Namibia's famous Kaokoland. Staying overnight at Camp Aussicht.

Location 11

Purros Campsite, Kaokoland

Day 15 & 16

Today you will head into the Kaokoland to stay at Purros Campsite. This beautiful campsite is the perfect place to interact with Namibia's Himba people.

Location 12

Khowarib Campsite, Kaokoland

Day 17

Today you continue through Kaokoland to Khowarib Lodge Campsite. This campsite is perched on a river bank within this desert area, maing a lovely contrast of environment.

Location 13

Etendeka Mountain Camp, Damarland

Day 18 & 19

This morning you drive down to Etendeka Mountain Camp which is set in the north of Damaraland. Although it is a remote bush camp, rare sightings of giraffe, Hartmann’s mountain zebra, oryx, springbok and even desert elephant and black rhino can add an exciting bonus to your stay at certain times of year.

Hoada Campsite, Etosha National Park

Day 20

Today you will drive to Hoada Campsite, which is located on the edge of Damaraland before the Grootberg Pass. Each private campsite has it's own ablution facilities all hidden within stunning granite rock formations.

Ongava Lodge, Etosha National Park

Day 21

Game drive your way through Etosha today as you head for the central point. Situated just outside Etosha’s Andersson’s Gate. Andersson’s Camp is surrounded by plains teeming with wildlife.

Onguma Campsite, Etosha National Park

Day 22 & 23

Enjoy the day exploring Etosha National Park before reaching Onguma Campsite - one of our favourite Etosha Campsites.

Okonjima Campsite, Africat Foundation

Day 24 & 25

Today you will then set off to the Okonjima Reserve, home to the AfriCat Foundation.

Olive Grove, Windhoek

Day 26

Today you will return to the Olive Grove for your debrief and final night's stay in Africa. We will then drop you off at the airport the following day in good time for your international flight.

Depart Namibia

Day 27

This morning you will be collected from your guesthouse and transferred to Windhoek airport for your flight home.
