Houseboat and Bushman ITINERARY
DAY 1 The Olive Grove, Windhoek
Arrive in Windhoek where you will be met by a member of our team and taken to the Olive Grove Guesthouse - a perfect place to relax after a long flight.
DAY 2 & 3 Spitzkoppe Campsite, Damaraland
This morning you set off on your self-drive journey for Spitzkoppe, which is one of the most beautiful areas in Namibia, consisting of an imposing granite rock formation set in the plains. Two nights here giving you a full day to explore the area.
DAY 4 & 5 Mowani Campsite, Damaraland
Head north into the heart of Damaraland where you will stay at the beautiful campsites that belongs to Mowani. Two nights here will allow you to explore more of the rock art in Twyfelfontein.
DAY 6 Andersson's Camp, Etosha National Park
Situated close to Etosha, Andersson’s Camp is surrounded by plains teeming with wildlife. This vast expanse of savannah and saltpan, the largest in Africa, was ‘discovered’ by Sir Francis Galton and Charles Anderson in 1851, the ‘discoverer’ atmosphere of Andersson’s Camp makes for much more comfortable modern-day exploration of this landscape.
DAY 7 & 8 Mushara Outpost, Etosha National Park
Head north to Etosha today. You will stay at Mushara Outpost, located just outside Etosha’s Von Lindequist Gate.
DAY 9 & 10 Mukuri Village Campsite, Bushmanland, Tsumkwe
You drive to Bushmanland to camp at one of the locally run campsites in this interesting region. The best of these is Mukuri. The camp which is in the shade of an enormous Baobab Tree has no facilities, but is kept clean and wood is provided.
DAY 11,12 & 13 Kubu Queen House Boat, Shakawe
The very best alternative to an expensive camp in the heart of the Okavango Delta is this wonderful and genuine house boat based out of Shakawe on the Okavango River. The Kubu Queen is a small, privately owned wooden boat rebuilt by its owner Greg Thompson. Greg and Kate lovingly rebuilt the boat after it had sunk out of neglect and have now created a comfortable private lodge on the water.
DAY 14 & 15 Mavunje Base Campsite, Mashi River Safaris, Caprivi Strip
This morning you will head to Mavunje Community Campsite, Mashi River Safari’s base camp. This lovely community camp is and situated on a beautiful lagoon on the Kwando floodplain directly opposite the famous ‘horseshoe’ area in Bwabwata National Park.
DAY 16 & 17 Waterberry Lodge, Livingstone
Today you cross the border into Zambia and continue to the banks of the river Zambezi where you will stay at one our favourite camps, Waterberry Lodge.
DAY 18 Depart Livingstone
This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight.
