Cape Town and Safari ITINERARY
Day 1More Quaters, Cape Town
On landing into Cape Town International airport you will be met by our team on the ground and driven into the heart of the city to More Quarters. This is a fantastic set up and offers you total flexibility. Essentially these are immaculate serviced apartments giving you all the service benefits of a hotel, but the freedom to come and go as you please and to truly feel part of Cape Town. Located in the heart of the Gardens district in close proximity to Table Mountain (10 minutes), Clifton Beach (15 minutes) and the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront (10 minutes), you are right in the heart of the action. Spend your first day exploring the city, head down to the waterfront or investigate the independent shops and cafes along Kloof Street.
Day 2More Quaters, Cape Town
Today why not take the cable car up Table Mountain? When the weather is clear the views across the Cape Peninsular are unbeatable. To the South of town is the famous Boulders Beach – home to a colony of penguins, a great place to stop for lunch before heading to Cape Point.
Day 3More Quaters, Cape Town
A full day in Cape Town. There is a huge range of excursions to choose from, head out to Robben Island for some cultural history and impressive views of Cape point, go shark diving in Hermanus or drive into the winelands for a long lunch and wine tasting session. Let us know if you have any specialist interests and we can offer recommendations.
Day 4Lion Sands, Sabi Sands, Kruger
This morning you will be driven to Cape Town international airport for your flight to Skukuza in the Kruger Game Reserve. The Kruger is the largest game reserve in South Africa and famous for its excellent big cat sightings. Lion Sands is an excellent luxury lodge with superb guiding and every modern luxury at hand. On landing you will set off on a game drive to the lodge, where you can settle in, have lunch and then head out on an afternoon game drive. Game drives are done in specially adapted open-sided 4x4 vehicles with a driver and wildlife spotter. Afternoon game drives usually culminate in sundowner drinks from a viewpoint. The perfect way to round off the day.
Day 5Lion Sands, Sabi Sands, Kruger
You will have an early start this morning to get up and out on a morning game drive. The big cats and and other predators are at their most active in the cooler hours so you have a good chance for some excellent wildlife sightings. Apart from the Big Five, the Lion Sands Private Reserve has excellent plains game and other species so there is always something to spot. As the heat rises towards lunchtime you will head back to the lodge for a long lazy lunch and maybe a cooling dip in the pool. After a high tea you will head back out on a game drive or walking safari, accompanied by a ranger and a tracker. This is a fantastic way to get a better sense of perspective of the bush around you.
Day 6Lion Sands, Sabi Sands, Kruger
Today is your last full day on safari, maybe look for some of the more elusive creatures like the solitary leopard or range further afield to find elephants at rivers and waterholes. The real luxury on safari is not to feel rushed whilst on safari so you can happily spend your time getting great photographs and exploring your guides knowledge.
Day 7Depart Cape Town
Today you will say goodbye to the team at Lion Sands and will be taken to the airstrip for your short flight to Johannesburg. You will then catch your international flights home.
