OVERVIEW

Most of our Tanzania itineraries see you travel one way into the Serengeti, for you then to turn around and come back on yourself. Depending on the time of year and location of the Great Migration, this is often the most logical thing to do. However, it isn’t the only way you have to do it. There is another way and this is via Lake Natron.

Lake Natron is situated to the eastern side of the Serengeti and in order to get to it you will drive all the way through the Serengeti from South to North so you can exit the park at Klein’s gate. This means a) you see the whole of the Serengeti b) it makes your itinerary a circular route c) you get to see Lake Natron and d) drive past the flamingo filled lakes located at the Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano. It’s a beautiful drive, however, it’s not for the faint hearted. The route is long, tiring and off-road at times, so 4×4 experience is essential.
