This route takes in the Victoria and Ngonye Falls, Liuwa Plains National Park and Kafue National Park. You will begin in Livingstone where you will spend two nights on the banks of the Zambezi and visit Victoria Falls before setting off up the main Sesheke Mongu road to Liuwa Plains National Park, known for its beautiful open plains. You then head across to Kafue National Park and make your way south through this very remote and largely unexplored park. You take the route out of the Ndumdumwenze gate and head back to Livingstone.

Western Zambia ITINERARY

  • DAY 1 & 2 The Waterberry Zambezi Lodge, Livingstone

    Upon arrival in Livingstone you will be met by a representative of Safari Drive and taken to Waterberry Lodge, located on the banks of the Zambezi River where you will spend your first two nights.
  • DAY 3 Kabula Lodge, Zambezi River

    Today you leave Livingstone and head up the main Sesheke to Mongu road, stopping for the night at this African fishing lodge.
  • DAY 4 Mutoya Campsite, Mongu

    Today you stop off in Mongu at Mutoya Campsite before heading into Liuwa Plains tomorrow.
  • DAY 5 & 6 Lyangu Community Campsite, Liuwa Plains

    Leave early today to get the best possible start for Liuwa Plains. It is not that far but deep sand can slow you down. You will be camping for two nights at Lyangu Community Campsite.
  • DAY 7 & 8 Katoyana Community Campsite, Liuwa Plains

    Today you will pack up camp and spend the day game driving before heading to your next campsite, Katoyana, which is also run by the local community.
  • DAY 9 Mutoya Campsite, Mongu

    Today you leave Liuwa and stop off at Mongu again before heading into Kafue tomorrow.
  • DAY 10 & 11 Mayukuyuku Campsite, Kafue National Park

    Head east into Kafue today where you will stop off at Mayukuyuku for two nights. This is a really great and friendly camp with excellent hosting and guides.
  • DAY 12 Hippo Bay Campsite, Kafue National Park

    This morning you will head to the family run Konkamoya Lodge, which is situated on the banks of Lake Itezhi-Tezhi in the southern part of Kafue National Park. Here you will camp.
  • DAY 13 Nanzhila Plains Campsite, Kafue National Park

    Drive down to Nanzhila Plains where you will spend two nights in this wonderful sandy campsite shaded by trees. The waterhole by camp attracts good amounts of game in the dry season and the area has some great self - driving loops for game viewing.
  • DAY 14 Waterberry Lodge, Livingstone

    You leave Kafue via the Ndumdumwenze gate and take the drive back to Livingstone for a relaxing last night on the Zambezi River.
  • DAY 15 Departure

    This morning you will be taken to the airport in plenty of time for your international flight.
