This safari is a great one way journey starting from the city of Comodoro Rivadavia and ending up in the lovely town of El Calafate, the best place to be based to explore the glaciers. As you head south you will follow the chain of mountains southwards taking in the most stupendous scenery en route. Our 2 week Patagonia journey is one of those classic road trips, miles away from anywhere and anyone. It’ll just be you and the open road for endless miles. Along the way you will stay at wonderful estancias, experience kind Argentine hospitality, drive along windswept roads, marvel at the glaciers and stunning snow-capped mountains, maybe even ride a horse or stretch your legs by doing some day treks in this beautiful area.

Classic Patagonia ITINERARY
DAY 1 Arrive Buenos Aires
Upon your early morning arrival in Buenos Aires (usually c. 08h00) you will be collected from the international airport, Ezeiza and transferred to your hotel, in Buenos Aires. This is a journey of approximately 1 hr depending on traffic. We recommend a private city tour or walking tour of Buenos Aires for a few hours with an English-speaking guide. It's a really good way to find your feet and get your bearings. In the evening we also recommend one of the many dinner and tango shows in Buenos Aires. Some of the shows are large, some are small but we can recommend one to suit you depending on your tastes.
DAY 2 & 3 Bahia Bustamante
This morning you transfer to the domestic airport in Buenos Aires for your flight to Comodoro Rivadavia. On arrival you will be met and briefed again on your journey and route. You will then have a short 2.5 hr drive to reach this famous seaweed village.
DAY 4 Los Antiguos
Today you should get an early start as you have a full day of driving ahead. The road is paved all the way and so should be relatively straightforward.
DAY 5 & 6 Lago Posadas
This morning you will continue your drive to Lake Posadas - this is more or less a four hour drive. You have two nights here so that you have a full day on Day 6 to explore a little or go for a hike.
DAY 7 & 8 Estancia La Oriental
Today you will continue towards the Perito Moreno National Park (confusingly not where you will see the Perito Moreno glacier, which is in the Los Glaciares National Park). You will overnight at Estancia La Oriental which is really basic accommodation, a simple but clean farmstay and the only place to stay in the National Park. 2 nights here so that you may have a full day in the Perito Moreno National Park.
DAY 9 Estancia El Condor
A long day of driving today, so important to have an early start. Your destination is Lake San Martin, but enjoy the journey as it is going to be a pretty day of driving, although there is quite some distance to cover.
DAY 10 Puesto La Nana
Today is a lovely day as you drive across the estancia and then walk for the last two hours walking to reach a small hut/log cabin where you will spend the night. If you don't fancy the drive/hike option then you can ride to the puesto. The accommodation is basic but warm and food from the main estancia is provided for you.
DAY 11 Hosteria La Estepa, El Calafate
This morning you will make your way back down from the puesto to the main estancia building. Once ready to you leave you will head to El Calafate which is about a 4 hour drive.
DAY 12 Hosteria La Estepa, El Calafate
Today is a full day on a boat exploring the glaciers. There are a number of different options to suit all budgets, but we really recommend a boat which serves lunch on board and which add to the experience & makes this a very special day.
DAY 13 Perito Moreno Glaciar & Nibepo Aike
There aren't many days in life that are like today!! It's a big day as you head to Perito Moreno. You'll board a boat first which'll take you to the left hand side of the glacier from where you'll do your mini-trekking actually on the glacier. The mini-trekking lasts for about 2 hrs, but there are quite stringent lower and upper age limits. Then you will make your own way to the board walks to admire the glacier from every angle. After all of this, you will head to your next estancia, Nibepo Aike.
DAY 14 Puesto at Nibepo Aike
This morning you will have the option of driving or riding to the basic puesto on this estancia, Puesto Laguna 3 de Abril. Again dinner will be provided for you at the puesto which is for your own exclusive use.
DAY 15 Buenos Aires
Morning at leisure on the estancia. Afternoon flight back to Buenos Aires from El Calafate. You will drop off your vehicle back at the airport. On your arrival in Buenos Aires you will be transferred to your hotel for the night.
DAY 16 Depart Argentina
Morning transfer to the international airport for your flight home.
